Breaking Binge: Understanding, Treating & Coping with Binge Eating

Binge eating disorder (BED) is the most common eating disorder in the United States, but it may also be the least understood. Join us for a special one-day conference to learn how to recognize, treat, cope with, and recover from BED. Speakers Sondra Kronberg, MS, RD, CEDRD, Andrew Walen, LCSW-C, LICSW, CEDS and Chelsea Kronengold, MA will discuss BED--what causes it, how to treat it, and what it feels like to struggle with it. Please join us on Sunday, December 4th, 8:30am-12pm at 40 Washington Square South to learn more about binge eating disorder--whether you're a professional or just curious to learn more, all are welcome!

Sondra Kronberg, MS, RD, CEDRD

Sondra Kronberg is a certified eating disorders specialist and clinical nutritionist with 30 years of experience as a recognized leader in the field of eating disorders. She is a founding member of the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) and currently a media spokesperson for NEDA. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Eating Disorder Treatment Collaborative and F.E.E.D. IOP, Connect and Concierge Treatment Programs of New York. Sondra Specializes in the treatment and training of the collaborative approach to eating wellness. She is the author of the Comprehensive Learning/Teaching Handout Series and contributing author to the ADA Clinical Guide to Counseling and Treatment of Eating Disorders. Sondra received the IAEDP 2010 Certified Specialist Award, the NEDA 2004 Excellence in Treatment Award and the 2002 Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists Excellence in Practice Award. Sondra trains professionals, is a national workshop leader, author, speaker, and spokesperson who appears regularly on television including PBS, Good Morning America, ABC, CBS, Fox 5, Dr. Oz, 20/20, and Anderson Cooper.

Chelsea Kronengold, MA
Chelsea Kronengold is a body image and eating disorders advocate and professional. Chelsea has been involved with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) since 2012 as a walk coordinator, Proud2Bme intern, and programs consultant. After receiving an MA in clinical psychology from Columbia University, Chelsea joined the NEDA staff as a program associate. In her role as program associate, Chelsea oversees volunteers on NEDA's Helpline and is a master trainer and coordinator for NEDA's implementation of the Body Project, an evidence-based body acceptance and eating disorders prevention program. Chelsea frequently speaks on behalf of NEDA about her personal and professional experience with body image, eating disorders, media literacy, and weight stigma; she has appeared in national media platforms including Teen Vogue, Huffington Post Live, Seventeen Magazine, WebMD and SiriusXM Doctor Radio.

Andrew Walen, LCSW-C, LICSW, CEDS
Andrew Walen is the founder and Executive Director of The Body Image Therapy Center in Columbia, Maryland, and Washington, DC (www.thebodyimagecenter.com). He is a psychotherapist, author, speaker, and advocate in the eating disorders field, with particular emphasis on binge eating disorder and males with eating disorders. Mr. Walen currently serves as President of the board of directors for the National Association for Males with Eating Disorders (NAMED), and is a past board member of the Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA).
