My dog Thermos, born on the day I started treatment in May 2019, being an advocate
My dog Thermos, born on the day I started treatment in May 2019, being an advocate

Thank you for visiting my personal NEDA Campus Warriors fundraising page!

My eating disorder has been a defining part of my life since middle school. I started working on recovery in 2019 and have been in multiple different treatment programs with different centers since then. The most amazing people and my truest friends are from ED treatment centers and when I think about how the people I love have experienced the same suffering that I have, I wish that I could make the illness go away.

I know I cannot do that for other people, but the least I can do is try and treat myself the way I would treat my friends with eating disorders. I am fundraising for NEDAwareness week as a Campus Warrior because I have not been putting recovery first since I came on campus this fall. For a while I worked very hard at recovery and most people in my life knew about it. I have not followed through with this level of transparency or effort this year. I am hoping that taking this step to build support for all students with eating disorders at Furman, will remind me to support myself in the ways I would for anyone else.

NEDA raises money for research on eating disorders and providing services to those who cannot access it. Without the years of treatment and individual therapy I have had, I would still be blinded by my eating disorder. While still an undergraduate student at Furman and fluctuating through recovery, there is not much I can do for other individuals suffering, but by advocating and fundraising for NEDA I can still help other students get what they need to move towards recovery.

Any donation is appreciated and helpful, though I understand not everyone can donate it is enough to know you took the time to read about my experience and why awareness alone is so important.

Thank you so much for your support!
