Dropped at 15 for being too curvy and then deemed too small to be plus size the years of body scrutiny is why she's so passionate about promoting a healthy body image and model diversity. This drove her to become ‘the change she wanted to see’. Turning challenging years of body-criticism into a positive by creating NEDA Inspires, a vision to diversify the fashion industry and encourage healthy body image in the media.
Featured Guest Speaker:
Jenn Friedman is a musician (singer/songwriter/piano-player), author and eating disorder recovery advocate. Her book, Eating Disorders on the Wire: Music and Metaphor as Pathways to Recovery (H.T.F.K. Press), explores her eating disorder recovery through metaphor. Each chapter has a corresponding song on her album, "On the Wire" (Personal Bias Records). Jenn has presented and performed at the Philadelphia NEDA walk, the Eating Disorder Coalition's "Mothers And Others March Against Eating Disorders," and at various treatment centers, colleges, and conferences in coordination with organizations such as NEDA, the Eating Disorders Coalition, Project Heal, IAEDP, Active Minds and Reaching Out Against Eating Disorders. Most recently, Jenn delivered a keynote presentation and facilitated music and writing workshops at the "Advancing in Recovery Conference" at Delaware Valley University.
Jenn graduated from SUNY Purchase with a BA in Liberal Arts and Music and went on to graduate from The New School with a Certificate in Creative Arts Therapy. She is passionate about fostering hope, healing, and connection through speaking and performing and has a special passion for multi-faceted artistic collaboration. www.jennfriedman.com
