Welcome to My Personal Page! :)
Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page!
Hi, my name is Sara Ghiorzi. I have been in and out of eating disorder recovery for the last 3 years of my life. Recovery has been a long and difficult battle, but one well worth the fight. In recent months, I have come to learn who I am beyond the constraints of an eating disorder, and how much more there is to life than what my anorexia had forced me to believe for so long. With the help of my treatment providers, I have learned how essential it can be, sometimes, to be willing to accept challenging thoughts and let them be there, in order to allow my mind to focus on things that I truly value and will move me towards the life I want for myself. I have learned that I am worthy of self-love, and that it is not wrong for me to treat myself and my body with the kindness and respect it and I deserve. Because I am choosing recovery, I have more hope for my future than I ever have before. What I had thought would be years of torture, self-hatred, and evetual death wil instead be years filled with happiness, self-love, laughter, and LIFE. As scary as recovery was and still is, there is no doubt in my mind that choosing to let go of my compulsions, obessions, and disordered behaviors was the best decision I have ever made. I am beyond grateful for everyone that has helped me on my journey, and I know I would not be the person I am today had I not met all the amazing people I have throughout this process. I believe everyone is deserving of the happiness recovery can provide, and that is why I choose to walk for #EatingDisorderAwareness.
Facts provided by the National Eating Disorders Association:
Did you know that 30 million men and women will suffer from an eating disorder in their lifetimes? This is one of the many reasons that I am participating in a NEDA Walk to benefit the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA)!
NEDA is a nonprofit organization that provides lifesaving programs and services to individuals and families affected by eating disorders. NEDA is dedicated to erasing the stigma surrounding eating disorders, promoting positive body image and discouraging dangerous diet behaviors.
I am asking for your support to help me reach my fundraising goal. Donating to my fundraising page is a way for you to not only show your support for me, but also to show your support for the millions of individuals and families affected by eating disorders.
Since 2009, NEDA Walks have been bringing communities together nationwide in the fight against eating disorders. NEDA Walks raise funds for NEDA’s lifesaving programs that help thousands of people every day!
Your contribution will help fund NEDA’s national Helpline, National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, NEDA Navigators and countless other lifesaving programs.
Any amount you can contribute will make a difference in the fight against eating disorders. With your help, I am one step closer to my fundraising goal.
Thank you so much for your support! You can also help by forwarding my page to anyone you think might want to support the cause with us!
