New York, NY NEDA Walk

Superstrong Support Squad

Thank you for visiting the Superstrong Support Squad Fundraising Page

Please support Superstrong Support Squad today by signing up to walk as a member of our team at the 10th Annual NYC NEDA Walk on Sunday, October 7!

WHAT: NYC NEDA Walk
WHERE: Foley Square (111 Worth Street)
WHEN: Sunday, October 7 at 10AM
WHY: To come together in an effort to raise awareness of the NEDA organization, support those who are struggling from an eating disorder, and celebrate all who have fought to overcome one.

I have been a proud supporter of NEDA for many years because I know firsthand the impact this disease can have, and want to ensure those suffering have the resources they need to beat it and those who have recovered are celebrated. I am encouraged by the extent to which the NYC NEDA walk has grown, gaining substantial support since its start as a gathering in Riverside Park to hundreds of individuals in Foley Square today.

Thirty million Americans suffer from an eating disorder — including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, or an eating disorder not otherwise specified — at some point in their life. The scope and severity of eating disorders are often misunderstood, but the truth is eating disorders are serious illnesses, not lifestyle choices. Despite their increasing prevalence, eating disorders receive significantly less funding than other major mental illnesses, and support options are often inaccessible. As a result, many individuals and families are left without the resources they need.

Through their walks, NEDA is raising critical funds, restoring hope, and changing the conversation surrounding eating disorders. NEDA serves as a catalyst for prevention, cures and access to quality care. NEDA confronts eating disorders head on by providing increased awareness, and improved access to treatment and programs and services.

Every donation makes a difference toward our shared goal of helping NEDA. I want to thank everyone who has supported me and Superstrong Support Squad over the last several years in my effort to bring ongoing awareness to this organization and the notion that recovery is real. Even if you are unable to attend the walk in person, I hope you will consider supporting NEDA by donating to Superstrong Support Squad's team fundraising page today.

Together, we will make a difference.
